Dr. Lavinia Schuler-Faccini is a Professor of Medical Genetics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. She’s also head of Medical Genetics Service at Clinical Hospital of Porto Alegre and coordinates the Brazilian Teratogen Information Service. She’s graduated in Medicine and has a PhD degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from UFRGS and post-doctoral training at Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, and at University College of London, UK. She was the President of the Brazilian Society of Medical Genetics (2012-2016). Presently she’s the president of the RELAGH – Latin American Network of Human Genetics. Her main areas of investigation include Teratogenesis in Humans, Medical Population Genetics and Epidemiology and Prevention of Congenital Anomalies.
